Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology through live streaming features has created a new pattern of commercial transactions that, on the one hand, provides convenience for consumers, but on the other hand gives rise to various legal issues, particularly fraudulent practices that cause significant consumer losses. This study aims to analyze the legal framework governing issues arising from transactions conducted through live streaming features and to examine the legal liability of electronic system providers. This research employs a normative juridical method using statutory, conceptual, and case approaches. The findings indicate that fraudulent practices in live streaming transactions violate prevailing laws and regulations, particularly the obligations of business actors to provide accurate, clear, and honest information, as well as the prohibition against trading goods that do not conform to the descriptions or promotional claims provided. Consumer legal protection remains inadequate, primarily due to the absence of specific regulations governing live streaming transaction models and the lack of a clear legal liability framework for the platforms facilitating such transactions. Therefore, more comprehensive regulations and clearer legal norms are required to ensure legal certainty and provide effective consumer protection in the digital commerce era.
